EVAL FoundationThe revised opioid risk tool (ORT) was developed to predict the risk of developing an opioid use disorder (OUD) in patients with chronic nonmalignant pain (CNMP) receiving opioid therapy. The revised version of the original ORT has clinical usefulness in providing clinicians a simple, validated method to rapidly screen for the risk of developing OUD. The original opioid Risk Tool (ORT), developed by Webster and Webster in 2005, was designed for use in primary care populations to assess the potential for opioid-related aberrant drug-related behaviors (ADRB) among adults who are candidates for commencing opioid therapy for CNMP. In the revised version, the history of gender-specific preadolescent sexual abuse and the sex-based scoring system has been removed. The revised ORT focuses on predicting the risk of developing OUD as opposed to aberrant drug-related behaviors that can reflect a number of other issues.

Scoring
